The Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and the Fontaines de la Concorde in the middle of the Nevada desert? Yes! They are at the Hotel and Casino Paris in Las Vegas that was opened in September 1999.
I like this hotel very much, as it has a great variety of restaurants, a nice casino, impressive decorations, and of course, a very nice theme that has been created with a lot of attention to detail. The exterior of the building has been inspired by the Opera Garnier, the Louvre and Orsay Museum. Inside, there are beautiful crystal chandeliers in the lobby, and replicas of typical Parisian streets and street lights.
Some people may find the decorations too much and over the top, but to me they are charming. I love it, and even if you see some wrong French writing at times, it is still very nice. It is not France but Las Vegas, and although it is little flashy and tacky, the place is simply outstanding. But I don’t want to waste your time with this introduction, and will move on to what really matters.
A very nice casino
Let us start this review about the Paris Las Vegas casino, as it is one of the nicest at the Strip in my opinion. Besides it being very airy and spacious, it has the perfect size, and is large enough to keep the interest of the players, but it is not too big, and you will probably not feel too overwhelmed.
Compared to the MGM Grand or the Rio for example, the casino Paris seems more compact and pleasant. You can easily move around, and from the centre of the casino, you can see all the four corners. I pretty much liked everything about the casino. In comparison, the casino of the MGM Grand is 14,500 m² while that of Paris is 9,000 m².
The slot machines
The establishment offers more than 1,700 slot machines. These are located between very typical Parisian style streets, fountains and statues. Unlike many other casinos in Las Vegas, the place does not have a low ceiling, soft lighting or dark colours. Instead, the casino is bright, open and airy. I would much rather play in this type of atmosphere.
The table games
Another positive point is the range of many different traditional table games. Most players should find their favourite game at one of the 90 tables:
- blackjack,
- craps,
- baccarat,
- mini baccarat,
- American roulette,
- pai gow with tiles,
- pai gow poker,
- three card poker,
- let i ride.
However, unfortunately, the establishment does not have poker room, which is really a shame.
The race and sports betting space
The casino also offers a space for sports betting and racing bets. The room is open Monday to Wednesday from 8 am to 8.30 pm, Thursday from 8 am to 9.30 pm, Friday from 8 am to 10 pm, Saturday from 7.30 am to 10 pm, and on Sunday from 7.30 to 9 pm. Here, you can bet money on your favourite team, or bet on the victory of a horse. You can also view the races and sports events on 29 television screens (11 large showing all, and 18 smaller individual screens). This room is large enough and offers a truly pleasant atmosphere. While I am not very interested in this type of betting, some people might enjoy them more, and they will not be disappointed here.
To finish this part of the review about the Casino at the Paris Las Vegas, I would like to mention that it is open 24 hours 7 days a week, and everyone can access it, regardless of age. However, you must be over 21 years if you want to play, as it is the law in the US!
Everything for a dream holiday
Obviously, the Paris Las Vegas does not only have a casino to offer their customers. Like all of the competitors on the Strip, the establishment also has a wide range of other options aside from gambling.
An excellent hotel
So first and foremost, I would like to mention that the property has a beautiful and luxurious hotel, with 2,916 rooms in total. Among them:
- 36 m² rooms,
- 65 m² and 92 m² suites,
- penthouse suites (St. Tropez, Charlemagne, Marseille, Louis XV and Napoleon).
Overall, the rooms are very nicely decorated and very spacious, furnished with one or more very comfortable beds and lots of pillows. The bathroom is also very large, and has a large separate shower, a bathtub and plenty of space for your personal things. There is also an impressive number of towels and a lot of good quality toiletries.
However, the rooms in the lowest floors are very noisy. I suggest you to opt for a room higher up. Fans of beautiful views are also advised to choose a room overlooking the Eiffel Tower. These are more expensive, but in turn they are fantastic.
Excellent… this adjective is perfectly describing the establishment as a whole, from the check in ( which is a little lost in the maze of the hotel by the way) to the hotel with its impressive chandeliers and replicas of the typical French alleys.
However, I also have a small point of critique about the personnel. It is really not that bad, and the staff is very nice, but nothing more. Unfortunately, some employees are not very friendly. This is nothing too serious, but having to mention this is rare on the Strip.
A nice variety of restaurants
Despite this small critique about the staff and some noise problems in the lower rooms, I always loved to stay at the Paris Las Vegas, as it is very beautiful and pleasant. Sleeping there is very nice, and you can also enjoy fine cuisine, even if it is a little expensive. As you might expect, the majority of the restaurants at the hotel are dedicated to French cuisine, and when this is not the case, they have usually still have a French name.
The high-class restaurants are:
- the Martorano’s that offers Italian cuisine,
- the Gordon Ramsay Steak from the famous Scottish chef,
- the Eiffel Tower Restaurant that has a fantastic view over the Strip, and offers different French specialties.
You also have a choice of a few more mid-range restaurants:
- the Buger Brasserie that offers a selection of French cuisine and American classics,
- the Mon Ami Gabi offering a traditional French menu,
- the HEXX Kitchen + Bar that is open 24/7,
- the Crêperie with sweet and savoury pancakes,
- the Café Ile Saint Louis which is an unconventional brasserie,
- the Yong Kang Street dedicated to Asian cuisine.
You can also enjoy snacks, a great selection of sandwiches, pastries or cakes at:
- the Boulangerie de JJ,
- the Café Belle Madeleine.
The Paris Las Vegas also offers an all you can eat buffet called Le Village Buffet. At first I liked this buffet a lot, but unfortunately, the quality has gradually declined, and today I would not recommend it to you anymore. It is a little disappointing.
Many things to do
Playing casino games, eating and sleeping are all very nice, but the Paris Las Vegas does not stop there, and also offers other activities and entertainment. You can enjoy:
- a hair salon with a great reputation,
- a superb spa,
- an enormous and nice swimming pool in an octagon shape,
- wedding chapels,
- a huge shopping centre,
- a renowned theatre,
- 5 bars to party (Napoleon’s Lounge, Le Cabaret, Le Central, Le Bar du Sport and Gustav’s) and a nightclub (Le Chateau Nightclub & Rooftop).
In conclusion I can say that the Paris Las Vegas itself is an excellent establishment worth visiting, when you stay on the Strip. The Casino is one of my favourite places with its nice decor, great size and bright atmosphere. The hotel itself should satisfy most customers, as it has a great location in the centre of the Strip.
